Motherhood can be
a beautiful journey.
It doesn’t have to be so hard.
Let's remember and return.
Let's walk the camino together.
You don’t have to do this alone.
We’re all in this together.
All mamas get it.
Let's flow, mama flow!

I talked to my ever wise sister (who recently passed on 11.15.2020) and she got me back on track. She reminded me to use the tools I've been teaching and preaching about for what feels like my entire life. It started small, with a few minutes of a morning routine that became everything. Then I accepted and received help from others. I started remembering and returning to my natural state, through breath, mindfulness, movement, journaling and creating. Then dancing/shaking my booty and screaming my head off when I would get really bad.
I learned that the body keeps score and if we can shake the subconscious programming out of the body, rewire the belief systems (b.s), we can flow more as humans and as mamas. Natural, easeful, effortless, free and in flow is our birthright. Let's remember together.
I spent the first year of my babes life in deep depression. Suicide felt like the only way out. I thought my husband would get the village he and my daughter deserved if I was gone.
Before I realized I deserved the village, there was a lot of work to be done. I had to get over feeling like I would be judged or ridiculed for doing the mama thing in a certain way. I remember I went out to a mama and baby circle and Beanie just cried the whole time. I later found out that she was hungry and my milk wasn’t enough. I couldn’t connect to anyone or felt like I could share. So I just cooped myself up and stayed home until someone mentioned getting some babysitting help to give me a break.
How could anyone take care of my daughter better than her mama and papa? It just wasn’t in the cards for me. But I was at the end of my rope, literally, when I gave in and invited in some help.
That was everything. I asked M Sol to call in the perfect caretaker and in a few days, we had Natalia. She would come twice a week for a few hours and I got to shower, sleep, cook, do nothing and it was pure heaven. After a few months, I created a solid routine that allowed me to slowly get back to myself and start feeling more confident as a mama. Sleep and rest are magical prescriptions. The self-care was paramount to being a present human to all my relationships. The time to myself going within was everything I needed to return to my soul.
I began to remember the Erica pre-baby who gathered, connected and always brought people together to celebrate life. After a year of finding (and sometimes hiring) the village, I eventually emerged with a babe in hands. The village kept coming, everywhere we went. If we went out to eat, M Sol would find someone to play with. One time a couple of grandparents offered to babysit! Even during the pandemic we had a community of amazing people who would be there with Micah and with us whenever we needed. And this led me to create Flow, Mama Flow!
